Ukrainian national team midfielder Heorhiy Sudakov will sign a new contract with Shakhtar Donetsk, insider Fabrizio Romano reports on his social network X (formerly Twitter). According to the source, the agreement is valid until 2029. It will contain a clause of 100+ million euros.
For reference: a clause is a certain amount of compensation for a player, upon payment of which the club that owns the rights to the player has no right to prevent his transfer to another team.
On December 10, it was reported that Juventus was going to buy Sudakov in the winter transfer window. "The Bianconeri were allegedly ready to pay 25 million euros for the 21-year-old player of the Ukrainian national team. The Turinese were also ready to rent Sudakov with an option to buy.
This season, the Ukrainian has played in 18 matches for Shakhtar in all competitions, scoring 3 goals and making 1 assist.
In the fall of this year, Fabrizio Romano, commenting on Sudakov's debut goal in the Champions League, called Georgiy "Shakhtar's new gem".

In the 2022/23 season, Sudakov played 39 matches at the club level, scoring 5 goals and providing 11 assists. He played all six matches of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League group stage, making two assists, and was named one of the top 40 young talents of the year by UEFA.
