A heated dispute recently erupted between two localities in the Kosiv district of Ivano-Frankivsk region over a unique form of Ukrainian folk art common in the Carpathian region - cheese horses, a folk toy with several hundred years of history, and a snack that is loved by both adults and children.

Thus, on his Facebook page, travel journalist Kostiantyn Hrubych, who studies the gastronomic heritage of Ukrainians, shared an interesting story. Two villages - Shepit and Brustury - had a fight over a billboard.

It reads, "Brustury is the capital of cheese horses". At the same time, in his post, Hrubych questioned whether this particular village is the capital of this delicacy, as it is cooked throughout the Hutsul region.

The billboard angered the residents of the neighboring village of Shepit, because they also consider themselves the rightful ancestors of this ancient tradition. In turn, people in Brustury were also offended, because they did not like the fact that their uniqueness was questioned. This resulted in a high-profile conflict on social media.

All parties to the discussion were offered to reconcile and come to an agreement, as most likely neither one nor the other is the true birthplace of the practice.
