Canary Islands tourists warned of "shocking scam" that could "eat up" your entire vacation budget

Scotsman warns Canary Island tourists about all-inclusive fraud scheme

Kevin, a Scotsman living in Tenerife in the Canary Islands, warned tourists about a common scam used by all-inclusive hotels and nightclubs. Due to ignorance, many young adventurous people fall for it and spend more than 90 euros down the drain for a few rash actions.

Kevin posted a video on YouTube detailing a deal that looked "too good to be true," even though he had fallen for it himself. The scammers offer an all-inclusive package with 4-5 drinks at a lower price. They promise to "save a fortune," but instead make you spend more.

"They used to say that you needed about 20 euros (825 UAH) to get into a nightclub. Now they will tell you it's about 90 euros (3700 UAH) or something ridiculous for an all-inclusive package. They offer to visit the club and sell you a package where you can get four or five drinks for about 30 or 40 euros [UAH 1,230-1,650]," he said.

One of the conditions of this scheme is that you must arrive at the nightclub at 9-10 p.m., when there are almost no visitors, except for those who have fallen for the scheme. The scammers claim to help save half the cost of all-inclusive. However, locals report that the price is extremely high in the first place.

Interestingly, after midnight, most nightclubs will offer free entry, so you can save a lot of money and not waste money.

"If you're a young person and you arrive in Playa del Inglés and someone tries to sell you a nightclub pass, keep in mind that in most cases you can visit them for free at any time convenient for you," Kevin explained.
