Bananas are known not only for their interesting flavor and beautiful appearance but also for spoiling very quickly. You can see black spots on them within a few days of buying them.

This happens not because of the fruit's characteristics, but because of improper storage methods. It would seem that bananas should be stored in the kitchen fruit bowl, but as it turned out, this is one of the worst places. So how and where is the best place to store bananas, FoodOboz tells you.

It is believed that since bananas come from warm countries, they do not like cold and spoil much faster when exposed to it. But this is just a myth because cold will significantly slow down the spoilage process and keep bananas fresh longer than at room temperature.

However, there are also rules for storing bananas in the refrigerator. Only ripe, yellowed fruit should be placed there. This is because cold, in addition to spoilage, also stops the ripening process of bananas. As a result, the peel of the fruit will darken, but the banana itself will never reach ripeness.

That is, if you bought unripe bananas, you should first leave them at room temperature and wait until the fruit turns yellow. Only then should you put them in the refrigerator, where they will stay fresh for a long time.
