Marvell was planning to relaunch the movie franchise about the vampire-hunting superhero Blade in 2025. However, it seems that something has changed dramatically in the studio's plans.

According to Deadline, the action movie, starring Oscar-winning Mahershala Ali, has been left without a premiere date. Previously, Disney, which owns Marvel, planned to release the new "Blade" in theaters on November 7, 2025, but now this slot has been taken by a new film from the Predator franchise, "Predator: Wasteland."

The "Blade" reboot was announced during San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. However, the team faced serious difficulties while working on the project. First, the coronavirus pandemic led to delays, then two global strikes in the industry – actors and screenwriters.

And this summer, it became known that Marvel had said goodbye to director Yann Demange, who was supposed to direct a new Blade story. It was reported that the parties were not satisfied with the delay in the process. Now the studio plans to rewrite the script again.

At the same time, the team working on the film is constantly changing. So at first, two directors left "Blade." The first one to leave was Bassam Tariq, who was expecting to start work in the fall of 2022, and then Yann Demange. The film also lost most of its actors, who were not satisfied with the uncertainty of the shooting schedule. Also, as many as 5 screenwriters tried to join the project but later left it. According to recent reports, this task is being performed by Eric Pearson, known for the films "Thor: Ragnarok," "Black Widow," and "The Fantastic Four."

It is currently known that Mia Goth has not yet refused the contract. She will play the villain Lilith, who is hunting Blade's daughter.

The "Blade" trilogy, which is to be restarted, was released in 1998 with sequels in 2002 and 2004. The main role in it was played by Wesley Snipes. It was perhaps the first superhero series to receive an R rating, the highest age restriction, due to the large amount of violence in the film.

By the way, Wesley Snipes recently returned to the image of a vampire hunter. He played Blade in the movie "Deadpool and Wolverine," thus setting the record for the longest career in Marvel.
