Best European city to visit in winter: it tops the ranking for the third year in a row

For the third time in a row, Krakow has become the leader in the annual list of the best European cities to visit in winter. The Polish city has overtaken Prague, Brussels and even French Paris.

This became known from the rating of the international car rental website Discover Cars. The portal has already conducted a similar study in 2022 and 2021.

Analysts look at several factors, including the average cost of a weekly hotel stay and the number of cheap restaurants. After that, the European city is rated on a scale of up to 50 points (scroll to the bottom of the page to see).

This year, Discover Cars paid attention to:

• number of "cheap" restaurants;
• average cost of renting a car for one week;
• average total cost of a one-week hotel stay;
• average cost of a flight from London;
• number of tourist attractions and access for tourists.

Krakow took first place with 38 points. From 2021, the Polish city remains the best option for travelers throughout the winter season. Here you can find such tourist sites as Wawel Cathedral and the Polish Aviation Museum, which are popular among travelers. Krakow's biggest attraction, the Main Market, is free to visit.

Prague took second place with a difference of one point, 37/50. Brussels received 36 points and became the bronze medalist. The list also includes Paris, Budapest, Tallinn, Berlin, Amsterdam, Vienna, and Copenhagen.
