Beach vacation in Bulgaria: which resort to choose
One of the most popular European countries welcomes tourists from all over the world. The combination of golden beaches and wellness centers attracts travelers every year. We'll tell you where to go this summer below.
Burgas
A large port city located by the Black Sea. Locals say that St. Nicholas the Wonderworker himself is its patron saint. The advantage of this resort is its own international airport. It also has a well-developed transport interchange.
One of the most beautiful promenades is Bolata. It is located near Cape Kaliakra. Diving enthusiasts often come here. You can rent umbrellas and sunbeds here. By the way, we recommend going for a boat trip around the bay and watching dolphins and seals.
The peak season is from July to August. The air temperature ranges from +30°C. For those seeking a more secluded vacation, we recommend visiting in September. The weather is still warm, as is the water, and there are fewer visitors.
The province is famous for its park by the sea, sand sculptures and the Cathedral of St. Cyril and Methodius. Be sure to visit the Sea Garden. There is a forest park area, fountains, playgrounds, cafes, an open-air theater, tennis courts, etc. A great location for evening walks. Incredible photos can be taken from the local pier. It offers a picturesque view.
We also recommend taking a boat trip to the island of St. Anastasia. There is a restaurant, a museum, guest houses and a lighthouse. You won't believe it, but in the XX century this place served as a prison.
Sunny Beach
The resort has been awarded the highest international Blue Flag status for its environmental qualities. Therefore, you can be sure of clean water and comfortable coastal areas. By the way, the location lives up to its name. The sun shines brightly for 300 days a year and makes the residents happy. The city was founded in 1959, when the first health centers appeared.
The coast is mostly sandy, and the entrance to the water is gentle. Since the sea is not deep, it is comfortable for families with children to relax here. The season starts in late May and ends in late September. The complex includes not only accessible infrastructure: cafes, restaurants, casinos and nightclubs, but also sports entertainment. For example: a diving center, golf courses, bowling alleys and a horseback riding club. Be sure to visit the local water park – the best in the Bulgarian Riviera. It has 300 attractions for adults and kids of all ages. You can also go to the on-site mini-zoo.
By the way, you can go shopping in the shops of famous brands and boutiques with clothes of Bulgarian designers.
Nessebar
The real pearl of the country is located on a rocky peninsula, north of Burgas. The coastline is mostly sandy, and the water is clean and clear. We advise you to come here from July to August, when the air temperature ranges up to +29°C.
The North Beach offers all the comfortable conditions for relaxation: changing cabins, sun umbrellas, sun loungers, fresh water showers and toilets. There are also lifeguard stations every 50 meters. Ambulance workers are also on duty.
You can have a snack in the Bistro Kitchen Beach cafe. You can find a comfortable descent on the Southern Embankment. There is a large park and a fountain near it, where tourists can hide from the scorching sun. By the way, there is a fast food and corn vendor here.
The entire territory of the city is under UNESCO protection. This is because of the large number of ancient architectural monuments. Old Nessebar is the oldest part of the province. Interestingly, several centuries ago, part of the town went under water. The main city buildings and churches are located on the remaining land. Be sure to take a boat trip to see the sunken areas, which are visible in good weather.
At the very entrance to the old part of the center you will see an archaeological museum. It was built in 1994. Here you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with a rare collection of ancient coins, jewelry and dishes. You will also find ancient anchors, statue fragments, and tombstones. Be sure to go to the local windmill, which regularly hosts folklore groups, troupes of artists and dance groups.
Pomorie
Here you will find the lowest prices. The city is famous for its therapeutic mud, which is extracted from the bottom of an estuarine lake. They are characterized by black sand, which is extremely useful for the musculoskeletal system. This is because of its high iron content.
Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for rent on the beaches. There is a rescue post and smoking areas on the territory. The embankment on the spit is remote from people. So if you need a more relaxing vacation, head here. Keep in mind that there is no civilized equipment here. We recommend choosing the southern shore for families with kids. The entrance to the sea is gentle and the water is warm.
To have an interesting time, we recommend going to the historical museum. Various exhibits are kept here: national costumes, gold and silver coins. Be sure to visit the Thracian Tomb. Right in front of it are orchards where you can see how kiwi and other tropical fruits are grown.
