Barbie and Oppenheimer movies will not be shown in Russia: Russians call the Ministry of Culture "clowns"

Russians refuse to illegally show Hollywood movies

In the terrorist country Russia, it was decided to "refuse to give the rental certificate to the films Oppenheimer and Barbie after two months of discussions and attempts to show "sanctioned" Hollywood movies. The Ministry of Culture issued a statement saying that foreign films do not meet the objectives of "preserving and strengthening traditional Russian spiritual values."

But the audience was quickly reassured that it will soon be possible to enjoy movies from abroad. Russia is already preparing to acquire the rights to show films from "friendly" Africa, Brazil and China, according to the Russian media (to see the photo, scroll to the bottom of the page).

It is worth noting that Russians did not take the news of the censorship of Hollywood movies that were supposed to be shown illegally in the country with much joy. The Ministry of Culture was reminded that recently theaters had shown the disgusting film Neposredstvenno Kakha 2, which glorified rape.

The famous Russian film reviewer Yevgeny Bazhenov (better known as BadComedian) ridiculed the position of the Ministry of Culture and asked what values cinema should carry. In the comments to his post, the Ministry was called "clowns".

Disappointed viewers were offered an alternative: domestic cinema. Over the past year, three such films have appeared in Russia, one of which is a demented propaganda about the war.

"The Russian box office is full of high-quality domestic premieres. In 2023, we have already seen such major releases as the family film Cheburashka, which became the highest-grossing film in the history of Russian cinema, the feature film Vyzov and the film about the history of Russia, Svidetel," Andrey Malyshev, deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Culture, said.

The latter is interesting because Svidetel has an indirect relation to Ukraine. The film, which was made by propagandists about the genocide in the Kyiv region, gathered an average of 4 people at the screenings.
