A dog was spotted barking at birds at the top of the Cheops pyramid

Paraglider Alex Lang, who was flying over the pyramid of Cheops, spotted a dog on top of the tallest structure among the three pyramids in Giza, Egypt. The video of the dog barking at birds at an altitude of about 146.6 meters went viral online.

Approaching a small flat space at the top of one of the "Seven Wonders of the World", the man filmed the stunning footage. After the amazing find at the top of the ancient monument, Lang said the dog was barking at birds flying overhead when he spotted the animal, the Daily Mail reports.

Alex's video was shared by extreme athlete Marshall Mosher, garnering more than 650,000 likes in a day. Impressed viewers were quick to leave their thoughts in the comments:

  • "This is not a dog. This is the Egyptian god Anubis. He is considered to be the guide of the dead in the afterlife and the protector of tombs. That's why he's above the pyramid."
  • "None of his friends will believe him."
  • "Is this what people think aliens built? The dog just climbed it."
  • "He's not a dog anymore, they call him Anubis."

It remains unclear whether the dog was rescued, as the incredible video ended with the puppy still on the monument. The mystery for the users was how the animal managed to get to the top of the giant pyramid, and how long it stayed there.
