A sponge cake is a light and airy type of dough made from eggs whipped with sugar. It can be used as an independent dessert or as one of its components.
A food blogger with the nickname annasholkova shared a recipe for a universal sponge cake on TikTok. It can become the basis for any dessert, making it extremely tasty. Moreover, it takes only 10 minutes to bake it.
Ingredients
- eggs - 5 pcs
- salt - a pinch
- sugar - 125 g
- vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- butter - 50 ml
- baking powder - 5 g
- flour - 125 g
Method of preparation
1. Use room temperature eggs. Separate the whites from the yolks. Add salt to the whites and beat with a mixer until light foam.
2. Add sugar in three stages, continuing to beat at maximum speed until stable peaks form.
3. Add the yolks one by one, continuing to beat.
4. Add vanilla extract and mix. The whisk peaks should not disappear immediately. This is considered the perfect consistency.
5. Mix flour with baking powder and add it to the egg mixture in three stages, stirring with a spatula after each stage.
6. Pour oil along the edge of the bowl with the dough and mix thoroughly.
7. Pour the dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and smooth it out.
8. Bake at 200 degrees for 10 minutes.
9. Put the hot sponge cake on a wire rack with parchment and cover with a towel.
10. Remove the parchment after cooling the cake and serve.
