The world is full of amazing places, each with its own unique atmosphere, culture, and architectural heritage. So with so many great options, choosing the perfect city for your vacation can be a real challenge.

The variety of offers, covering both classic tourist routes and lesser-known locations, makes choosing a travel destination even more difficult. That is why Online Mortgage Advisor has shared a rating of the best of them.

The research is based on the principle of the golden ratio, which has been used for thousands of years in architecture to create harmonious and balanced structures. This approach allows us to evaluate the beauty of buildings based on natural proportions that attract the eye and create a sense of aesthetic perfection.

In 2024, the ranking included 9 European cities and 1 American city.

Venice, a city that has long been known for its winding canals and eclectic architecture, took the 1st place. More than 83% of buildings in Venice comply with the golden ratio rule, making it a true work of art among the world's cities.

Rome, the capital of Italy, is on the 2nd place. The architectural beauty of this city, where 82% of buildings meet the golden ratio, makes it one of the most attractive European capitals.

Barcelona took the 3rd place, which is only a fraction of a percent behind Rome. Other cities in the top 10 include Prague with its contrasting architecture - from the Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral to the modern Dancing House. New York, the only non-European city on the list, took the 5th place .

The top ten most beautiful cities in terms of architecture also include Athens, Greece - 6th place, Budapest, Hungary - 7th place, Vienna, Austria - 8th place.

France, known for its cultural riches, surprised many - Paris, the city with the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, took only 12th place. Instead, Bordeaux, known not only for its vineyards but also for its impressive architecture, such as the Cite du Vin Museum and the Grand Bordeaux Theater, took 9th place. Milan, Italy, completed the rating and took the last 10th place.
