Amazon casts a Russian actor for a lead role in the second season of Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Russian actor Mark Eidelstein, the star of Anora (a 2024 film about the life of a Russian oligarch's son abroad) and a colleague of propagandist Yuri Borisov, has been cast in the second season of Amazon's popular series Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The native of Nizhny Novgorod will play Mr. Smith himself.

The first season starred Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. It is not yet known who will join Mark Eidelstein in the new season. Previously, Billie Eilish was considered for this role, but the singer is now on tour. It was reported by Deadline.

Eidelstein played a key character in the film Anora, which won a prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival. The film revolves around the high life of Russian immigrants in the United States. Many Russian citizens were included in the cast, including Yuri Borisov, who is no stranger to playing roles in propaganda films.

According to the Telegram channel scho_ti_znaesh_pro_bobula, during the world promo of Anora, none of the stars spoke out about the war in Ukraine. After the prestigious event in Cannes, Eidelstein returned to his homeland, where he became "Russian Timothée Chalamet" and a big star.
