Mistakes of car drivers

Drivers should carefully prepare their vehicle for winter to ensure a comfortable stay on the road both for themselves and others. Snowfall, ice, and wind create dangerous driving conditions.

The Sun has published the advice of a car expert from Iceland, who named the main mistakes drivers make in winter. According to him, most people ignore basic rules that can save them from a traffic accident.

Sunglasses

It is believed that this accessory should be worn only in summer, but it is an important thing in winter too, as the sun shines brightly and impairs visibility on the road. Sunglasses help with this.

Clothing

Winter clothing is bulky and heavy, making it uncomfortable to drive. It is better to take off your jacket or coat before driving. Also, pay attention to your shoes. Choose lightweight and comfortable boots to make it easier to step on the pedals.

Snow

When driving on snowy streets, you should start in second gear and carefully shift to a higher one. It is not recommended to drive at first speed, as this will increase the risk of skidding.

Ice

The main thing is to remain calm on slippery surfaces and do not panic. Hold the steering wheel firmly and steer the car in the direction of its movement. If the car does skid on the road, try not to brake hard.

Emergency kit

Every driver should always have an "emergency kit" in case of unforeseen situations on the road. The kit includes an ice scraper, a shovel, a flashlight, a first aid kit, warm clothes, a blanket, food, drinks, a phone charger, a tow rope and a road map.
