The Ministry of Youth and Sports has refused to allow Lviv football club Karpaty to leave Ukraine, Tribuna.com reports. According to media reports, the team was not allowed to attend a training camp in Spain.

The rules for crossing the state border during martial law state that only teams from the top divisions of playing sports can obtain such permission.

"Karpaty was established in the fall of 2020 and is a brand new club that plays in the Ukrainian First League. The Ministry of Youth and Sports cited the fact that Karpaty do not play in the Ukrainian Premier League, so the team's players have no reason to travel abroad.

For reference: the previous Karpaty were founded in 1963 and became the only club in the history of the USSR Cup to win the trophy without playing in the top flight (1969). In the 2020/2021 season, they finished 13th in the Second League in Group A. In July, it was announced that the club was disbanded.

In the summer of 2021, the public organization Ultras Karpaty, which was the owner of the club's emblem, transferred the rights to the emblem to the newly created club.

As OBOZ.UA reported, last fall, Mudryk, Dovbyk and other national team players were included in the Ukrainian fugitive database.

In November 2023, it became known that the Ministry of Sports of Ukraine and sports federations were developing rules according to which athletes who evade mobilization would be excluded from national teams and deprived of their sports titles.
