Different countries differ not only in languages, flags, and cultural characteristics, but also in traffic rules. Some of the rules are really surprising. And this applies even to the main points that seemed to have a universal interpretation around the world.

Alcohol

One of the most interesting topics. As it turns out, alcohol is not prohibited before driving if you take a closer look at foreign requirements.

There is indeed an unequivocal ban in countries such as the UAE, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania. In the United States, for example, the situation is more lenient. Drivers are allowed to drink about a bottle of wine or 1.5 liters of beer. The main thing is not to exceed 0.8 ppm.

The requirements are about twice as strict in Italy, France, Germany, and Finland. Barbados and Togo (West Africa) have no restrictions on alcohol consumption. However, we recommend that you refuse to drink alcohol while driving in any country!

Parking

Greek police are competent to take away the license plates of improperly parked cars and even drive them away.

Some Spanish cities regulate on-street parking on even and odd days of the calendar. It's worth studying more before you go on a trip.

Double dividing line

In many countries, a double dividing line prohibits the driver from doing almost anything. In the United States, however, it can be crossed if you are not trying to overtake. This applies to the yellow line.

Expressing emotions behind the wheel

Inappropriate gestures while driving in Germany can result in a fine of several thousand euros. This applies not only to the middle finger, but also to sticking out your tongue.

In some urban areas in Austria, using horn is prohibited. Therefore, you will have to keep your emotions to yourself and not make unnecessary noise. In Cyprus, you cannot honk near hospitals and in some residential areas.
