A strong explosion occurred in the Alania Mall shopping center in Russian Vladikavkaz, killing 1 person and injuring 9. Security forces have already surrounded the building. Eyewitnesses say windows were smashed and smoke rose to the sky after the incident.

This was reported by Russian media. Later, according to the officials, it became known that the cause of the fire in the shopping center was gas explosion.

"As a result of the explosion on the top floor of Alania Mall, people inside and near the building were injured. This was reported by eyewitnesses. The head of the region, Sergey Meniailo, has arrived at the city. He said that the authorities are now investigating the circumstances of what happened," one of the Russian media outlets said.

Later, new details of the incident appeared, indicating that most of the victims were either employees of the shopping center or passers-by and that there were no visitors in the building.

"A 57-year-old woman was killed in the explosion. She worked as a cleaner in the mall and came in early before the opening. The preliminary cause of the fire was an explosion of gas that had accumulated in the building," another Telegram channel said.

As reported, previously, a UAV crushed into the building of the Nizhny Novgorod Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, causing no explosion or fire as it did not carry any munition. According to the Russian media, drill was taking place at the scene, and a misfire occurred, causing the UAV to crash.
