At a depth of 6,895 meters in the Philippine Sea, the USS Samuel B. Roberts (DE-413) was discovered. It sank during World War II on October 25, 1944, in battles with the Japanese Navy.
89 crew members were killed. According to the BBC, the ship, whose remains were found on June 22, became the deepest ship to sink of all those identified (to see photos and videos, scroll to the end of the news).

Scientists examined DE-413 using underwater cameras. As it turned out, the ship split into two parts, with a distance of 10 meters between them.
