A scandal breaks out as Ukrainian actor who moved to Russia and publicly supports the war is not cut out of domestic movie DIAGNOSIS: DISSENT

On October 31, the Ukrainian film DIAGNOSIS: DISSENT (BozheVilni) was released in theaters. The cast of the film, which reveals the horrific invention of the Soviet government, "punitive psychiatry," includes Irma Vitovska, Kostiantyn Temliak, Serhiy Kalantai, Ostap Stupka, Vitaliy Saliy, Natalia Babenko, Pavlo Kostitsyn, and Roman Yakymchuk, who left for Russia. It turned out that the scenes with the traitor were not cut out of the movie.

Journalist Alina Dorotiuk shared on her Telegram channel that the actor left Ukraine before the outbreak of a full-scale war. He is currently building a career in the aggressor country and participating in films with Russian artists who actively support the bloody Kremlin regime.

According to the blogger, the process of filming the historical drama directed by Denys Tarasov was completed before Roman Yakymchuk moved to Moscow. However, Alina Dorotiuk was outraged that the traitor was not cut out.

"Given that the filming of BozheVilni ended before Yakymchuk left, the post-production began. But! There is always a moral and ethical question of keeping the faces of traitors in TV shows and movies. Especially on this scale. It was indeed hardly possible to cut this character out as one of the decisive scenes of the movie directly involves him. Another question is why they did not reshot them. Nevertheless, it is what it is," the journalist wrote.

Yakymchuk's co-star Irma Vitovska also commented on the incident. The Honored Artist of Ukraine noted that the actor's action was a surprise for everyone, but his decision should not undermine the work of other stars.

"This actor left after the movie was made, and for everyone it was already something that the movie does not affect. His role is not secondary in the story, but it is not the main one either. Still, there is a connection. There is no location where the shooting took place. I don't see any point in discussing the details further for the sake of production understanding. I left in 2021. The act of one person does not give the right to destroy the work of others. What are you trying to do? Then let's ban other films because some fled the country," the celebrity said.
