A new obligation is being prepared for Ukrainian drivers: what MPs have planned
Ukraine may introduce compulsory insurance of civil liability of owners of land vehicles (motor insurance). The relevant draft law has already been passed in the first reading in the Verkhovna Rada, and now it is recommended to be adopted as a whole.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev (Servant of the People). He noted that the committee has already made a recommendation on the draft law.
According to Mr. Hetmantsev, the document proposes, among other things, to gradually increase the maximum insurance payments to those established in the European Union. In addition:
- To introduce fast guarantee payments to victims of bankrupt insurers before the law comes into force.
"Now it takes years. Now it is proposed to be up to 90 days," explained the MP.
- Introduce direct settlement in all cases of road accidents in which damage is caused only to the vehicle.
According to him, this will allow victims to apply for insurance payments to their insurer, even if the culprit is not insured.
- Expand the application of the European protocol, which allows for filing an insurance claim in case of an accident without the participation of the police.
Prices for documents have been significantly increased for Ukrainian drivers
