Consequences of the Russian attack on Kyiv

On the morning of Monday, December 11, the terrorist country Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles, which were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense forces. In the Darnytsia district of the capital, the fragments of an enemy munition fell directly into the garden of a local, resulting in an explosion that damaged private houses and completely destroyed one.

This was reported by an OBOZ.UA correspondent. Fortunately, no one was killed.

Thus, on the morning of December 11, Kyiv was attacked by Russian ballistic missiles, which were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense forces. However, the fragments of enemy munitions caused disasters. According to locals, the explosion smashed windows in houses, damaged buildings and caused cracks in the walls.

"All the appliances were standing (in front of the window - Ed.), now they are lying on the floor. There is no kitchen," the owner of one of the houses said.

He clarified that at first there was a strong explosion, after that there was shrapnel. He added that it hit the vegetable garden next to the bathhouse that was built several years ago. Thus, it saved the house and took the brunt of the impact. A huge 4-meter deep and 10-meter wide crater was formed at the site of the explosion.

Utility workers are also currently working at the scene to help the owners of the three damaged houses repair the damage, including covering the broken windows with plastic sheeting.

In another location, the fragments of a Russian missile destroyed a recently completed building and damaged four more. The blast wave shattered windows in nearby buildings.

"Around 4:00 we woke up to explosions. The windows and doors in the house were blown out. We went outside and saw this (the aftermath of the falling debris - Ed.), there was a house here. It's gone now. We are now clearing the rubble to be able to leave," a local said.

According to him, he heard about one victim.

The owner of the destroyed house said he learned about the incident from a neighbor who called him.

"He said (the neighbor - Ed.) that instead of my house there is a pit... I arrived and couldn't find anything because the ceiling was monolithic and had fallen down. You see..." the Kyiv resident said.

The man added that he was not there at the time of the explosion and wanted to leave his car in the garage of the house in the evening. He sais he was lucky as car was elsewhere. In the destroyed house itself, the owner said, construction work was still underway. He had made a room to live in during the blackout in the capital. It was the only one that survived.

According to the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, criminal proceedings according to Part 1 of Article 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code have been opened.

"According to the investigation, on December 11, 2023, the Russian Armed Forces, in violation of the laws and customs of war, fired at capital with ballistic missiles. Debris was recorded falling in the Darnytskyi district of the capital. Four locals were injured in the attack. A man born in 1992 sustained shrapnel wounds to his lower extremities, and three women born in 1963, 1990 and 1992 suffered acute stress reaction," the prosecutor's office said.
