A foreigner whose surname may cause hysteria among Russians got married in Rivne: he helps the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Photo
A Pole named Slavomir and Inna, a native of the Donetsk region, recently got married in Rivne. Although almost 80 marriages with foreigners have been registered in the Rivne region alone since the beginning of this year, the groom's name could cause a real hysteria in Russia: Slavomir Trump decided to tie his fate to the displaced woman from the Donetsk region.
The namesake of the newly elected US president has been helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine for years and regularly travels to the east, but he met his fate in distant Norway, where the future lovers were missionaries. "Suspilne" tells the details of the romantic story.
While the world is wondering whether US President-elect Donald Trump will help Ukraine win the war against Russia, his namesake, Polish citizen Slawomir Trump, is already doing everything he can to bring this long-awaited victory closer. The 51-year-old regularly travels to Ukraine and back to the east to help Ukrainian soldiers.
And recently, the Pole volunteer, whose surname would make the hearts of Russians beat faster, has also "become related" to Ukraine by marrying a 42-year-old native of the Donetsk region, Inna.
Interestingly, the future lovers met far beyond the borders of not only the Ukrainian East but also our country as a whole: Slavomir found Inna in Norway, where she moved two and a half years ago.
"She is a missionary and I am a missionary. We saw each other last year at Christmas in Norway. It was a Christian camp and we met there," said the man.
Slavomir and Inna registered their marriage in Rivne: it is here that the man stops between trips to the eastern front, where he delivers aid to soldiers.
"We have friends in the church as our home. When I go to the east with humanitarian aid, I stop and rest in this house. This is a city so close to our hearts. A truck loaded with humanitarian aid is already waiting in Norway – 50 cubic meters of Christmas gifts. We are going to Norway, I'm driving the truck and going back to Ukraine. We're going to live in Norway for a while, and then I believe that God will arrange it, we'll pray, he will lead us further," Trump said.
According to the Western Interregional Department of the Ministry of Justice, 4,600 couples have married in the Rivne region since the beginning of 2024, of which 76 marriages were concluded between Ukrainian citizens and foreigners.
A year earlier, 79 out of 5,000 marriages were registered with citizens of other countries.
