A drone attack was recorded in Russian Tatarstan: a plant for the production of Tu-22M and Tu-160M aircraft was attacked
On April 17 in the morning, unidentified drones were spotted over the territory of Tatarstan (Russia). The UAVs attacked the territory of the Russian aircraft factory named after Gorbunov in the city of Kazan.
The fact of the attack was confirmed by OBOZ.UA's own sources. According to unofficial information, it could have been an operation of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The enemy produces and repairs Tu-22M and Tu-160M bombers at the said aircraft plant.
Explosions were heard in the region around 10:00 (Kyiv time). An air raid alarm was sounded in Kazan. Local news sources reported that workers had to be evacuated from the airline and the refinery as a precautionary measure.
Rosaviatsia stated that the airports of Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, and Nizhny Novgorod temporarily did not receive or send aircraft. Restrictions were also imposed on flights at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, and Operation "Carpet" was announced in the Moscow region.
Residents of Kazan shared videos of the smoke on the Internet. Data on enemy casualties are being clarified.
