"A direct hit to their doorway": the network was struck by a photo of a family killed by a Russian strike in Zaporizhzhia
Russian occupants killed an entire family during a strike on a high-rise building in Zaporizhzhia: 1-year-old Adamchyk, his mother Sofia, and great-grandmother Tetiana. The Russian KAB hit the entranceway where the victims were staying, and rescuers found the body of the baby late at night.
Only a single photo of the mother and son was saved from the apartment where Adam, Sofia, and Tetiana died. It was shown by Sofia's sister Anna.
"When I wrote about the worst days of the war, I did not know that mine was still ahead. This scratched photo is the only thing that survived from the apartment of my uncle, my mother's brother, whom I adore. Only one photo that was in the kitchen. It shows my sister and my one-and-a-half-year-old nephew, the girl with the child on the left, who were killed yesterday by a Russian KAB. A direct hit in their entrance. There were three of us there. We found my sister (Sofia, 27) separately and at night we took out the bodies of the child (Adam, 1) and his great-grandmother Tetiana Vasylivna from the rubble together," she wrote on her Instagram profile.
The relatives of the murdered family stayed at the arrival site throughout the night, hoping in vain for a miracle.
"We were there almost until morning, hoping to the last, but no miracle happened. They were all dead. They were all identified. To be honest, I saw my sister and recognized her, but I couldn't look at the child. I just didn't dare. I love you, my Bilobrisyk. I'm sorry I paid so little attention to you. Less, much less than you deserved," Anna addressed her murdered nephew.
As a reminder, the day before, on November 7, Russians launched a massive attack on Zaporizhzhia.
One of the munitions destroyed a multi-story building. Also, the attacks were recorded in the private sectors of the city's residential areas, hospitals, and other civilian infrastructure. Private houses were destroyed. Local residents' cars were damaged.
In the afternoon of November 8, rescuers completed a search and rescue operation at the site of the high-rise building. Ten people have been reported dead, including 1-year-old Adam, and more than 40 injured, including boys aged 15, 5 and 1, and a four-month-old girl.
