A big sensation happened at the Biathlon World Cup
The sprint of the 8th stage of the Biathlon World Cup in Soldier Hollow (Salt Lake City, USA) was sensationally won by Eric Perrault. The 22-year-old Frenchman won his first career victory in an individual race, became the best on the 10 km course and broke the dominance of the Norwegian team.
Prior to this success, Perrault's highest achievement in individual World Cup competitions was third place in the mass start at Estersund 2023. This season, Eric Perrault has not risen higher than fourth place (in the sprint in Nove Mesto and in the individual race in Holmenkollen).
Perrault continues the family biathlon dynasty. His father is Frank Perrault, a world championship medalist who competed for France, and his mother is Thune Marit Oftedal, a world junior champion and two-time Norwegian biathlon champion.
Another sensation of the US sprint was the fifth place of Campbell Wright, an American biathlete who competed for New Zealand until 2023. The 21-year-old native of Rotorua managed to make it to the flower ceremony even with one miss.
Ukraine, which was represented by five athletes in this discipline, could not boast of high results. The best among our biathletes was Artem Pryma, who finished 39th.
The rest of the Ukrainians were below 40th place.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the day before, the US biathlon team took the highest place in the history of performances at the World Cups in the relay race. The American team of Vincent Bonacci, Sean Doherty, Campbell Wright and Jake Brown sensationally became the fourth at the 8th stage of the World Cup in Salger Hollow (Salt Lake City, USA).
