A beautiful city without crowds of tourists: one of the cheapest places in Europe in 2024

Eurochange experts have named it one of the cheapest European places to visit in 2024. As it turned out, it is Sarajevo, the largest city and capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This was reported by Express. This destination is unique in that it is in low demand among tourists and has budget prices: a three-course meal costs about 500 hryvnias.

"Sarajevo is known as the 'Jerusalem of Europe' and has one of the most diverse cultures on the continent, making it one of the most intriguing cities you can visit," says Eurochange's Laura Evans-Fisk. "It's one of the few cities where you can visit a mosque, Catholic church, Orthodox church, and synagogue in one place."

Tucked away in a long, thin valley and surrounded by wooded mountains, the city is ideal for relaxation. The wide mix of cultural influences in Sarajevo is a sign of its unique architecture, and its restaurant scene is an eclectic mix of Turkish and Bosnian offerings. And with an average price of only 500 UAH per person for a three-course meal, you can plan a budget trip.

Tourists can explore the cobblestone streets of Baščaršija, Sarajevo's old bazaar, and will find shops selling antiques and souvenirs. This is one of the best places to try local dishes such as burek, baklava, or dolma.

Tourists can also visit the Museum of Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide to remember those who died during the war of the 1990s. Young children are not recommended to visit the museum. From the Yellow Fortress, travelers can see a great view of the city and also visit the bar at the top.
