Hong Kong is a city that impresses with its dynamism, economic power, and architecture. Located on the southern coast of China, this special administrative region has a high level of urbanization and the highest population density.

Mong Kok, known as the most crowded district in the world, is not only a commercial center but also a place where you can feel the true spirit of Hong Kong. The Express publication told why it is worth visiting Hong Kong.

Hong Kong used to be a small fishing village, but in the early 19th century, during the Anglo-Chinese War, Britain gained control of the territory. Hong Kong became a British colony in 1842 and then expanded through the leasing of nearby land. After more than a century of British rule, Hong Kong returned to Chinese sovereignty in 1997, but under the principle of "one country, two systems." This means that Hong Kong has considerable autonomy, especially in matters of economy, finance, and law.

Mong Kok is one of Hong Kong's most famous and vibrant neighborhoods, attracting millions of tourists and locals alike with its energy, cultural diversity, and intense atmosphere. It is a place where you can find everything from traditional Chinese markets to modern shopping centers and impressive skyscrapers. The area is located in the southern part of the Kowloon Peninsula and is one of the most densely populated places on the planet.

Even the name, which locals shorten to MK, means "crowded corner" in Cantonese. With a population density of 130,000 per square kilometer, Mong Kok is indeed teeming with life.

In comparison, London is the most densely populated city in the UK, but it has only 5,960 people per square kilometer. Even Shanghai, a huge city, has about 3900 people per square kilometer.

Thousands of people live in so-called coffin apartments – tiny spaces that can only fit a bed.

Mong Kok is known for the famous Temple Street night market. There are also streets dedicated to specific items, such as Sneaker Street, Electronics Street, and even Photocopy Street. This makes it easy to take a walking tour, depending on what you're looking for.

One of the most prominent facilities in the area is the SkyBridge, which provides convenient access between different parts of Mong Kok and helps to avoid a large number of pedestrians and traffic congestion.

Hong Kong is famous for its world-class street food, and Mong Kok is no exception. Local specialties such as siu mai (dumplings with shrimp or pork), takoyaki (octopus), or curry fish balls are worth trying.

Hong Kong is one of the main financial centers of the world. The city combines Chinese traditions and Western lifestyle. Here you can see old Buddhist temples next to modern shopping centers.

The city has an open economy, low taxes, and excellent infrastructure, which attracts a huge number of international companies and investors.

One of the main sectors of the economy is the financial sector, including banking, investment banking, insurance, and stock markets. Hong Kong is an important hub for trade with other Asian countries and the world. In addition, the city is actively developing high technology and innovation, which makes it a powerful competitor in the global market.
