The problem is to understand how long the car will actually last and whether it is worth buying. Experts have published a rating of the most profitable models under $35,000 that will last more than ten years.
To find out more about what can extend the life of a vehicle, GOBankingRates interviewed Lauren Fix, an automotive expert and founder of Car Coach Reports. Fix explained that one of the key factors in the longevity of a car is regular maintenance. Scheduled oil and tire changes and brake checks can help prevent breakdowns and extend the life of a car. Neglecting these rules usually leads to significant wear and tear.
Fix confirmed that driving habits can have a significant impact on the life of a car. She explained that through aggressive driving – fast acceleration and sudden braking – drivers can put stress on car components, which will lead to premature breakdowns. It is worth practicing smooth driving, which can improve performance and durability.
Environmental factors, such as climate and road conditions, further contribute to a shorter lifespan.
"Vehicles that are exposed to harsh weather conditions or poor road infrastructure can deteriorate faster. Understanding these various elements is key to optimizing the life of any vehicle," she said.
Honda CR-V
- Starting price in 2024: $30,850.
- Average maintenance costs (first 5 years): $4712.
- Estimated repair (first 5 years): $796
According to iSeeCars' analysis, the CR-V has an average service life of 14.7 years. However, one Honda owner on Reddit said that he had a 2005 CR-V – a car over 19 years old – with more than 420 thousand kilometers – and had no problems with it.
Honda Civic
