Zamioculcas is called one of the easiest houseplants to care for. It is undemanding to watering and lighting and is resistant to different temperatures. However, even it can get sick and signal this by yellowing leaves.

As a rule, this means that you are making mistakes in caring for the flower. OBOZ.UA will tell you how to correct these shortcomings and save the zamioculcas if it starts to turn yellow.

There are several main reasons for the yellowing of zamioculcas leaves. If we take into account mistakes in care, the problem can be caused by insufficient watering, lack of lighting, excessive watering, and placing the plant in a draft. The plant can also get sick due to pest attacks.

If the soil in the flower pot is dry and the leaves turn yellow and fall off, the plant needs water. But after a prolonged drought, it is important not to overfill the flower right away, start adding water in small portions, but do it more often, gradually getting into a standard schedule.

When the zamioculcas stands near a frequently opened window or balcony door, cold drafts can cause yellowing. In this case, move the plant pot to a place away from drafts and provide it with sufficient light.

Are the tips of the zamioculcas leaves drying out? This means that the air in the room is too dry for the plant. In this case, you can spray its crown with water or a foliar fertilizer from time to time.

If the leaves of the flower turn yellow and the potting soil is moist, you have most likely overwatered the flower and its roots have begun to rot. In this case, stop watering the plant. You can try to dry the substrate a little or transplant the plant into a new pot. And don't forget to remove the rotten roots first.

Brown spots on the leaves indicate that the zamioculcas is being burned by direct sunlight. Just move it to a place where the light is diffused and it will recover.

Yellow leaves can also be a signal of a pest attack. We are talking about spider mites, the appearance of which is facilitated by dry air and relatively high temperatures. The plant affected by them begins to turn yellow and dry out. In this case, it is best to use special preparations to kill the pests.

In general, to prevent the leaves of zamioculcas from turning yellow, you should follow the basic rules of care. It is worth remembering that this succulent plant does not like excessive watering and direct sun exposure. Zamioculcas also requires moderate watering – it is best to do this no more than once a week. Ideally, you should water the plant with water at room temperature. When watering, pour directly into the pot so as not to wet the leaves.
