Why do men with children seem more attractive? Scientists have confirmed the theory from the movie "About a Boy" with Hugh Grant

According to a new study by scientists, men with children seem to be more attractive to women. The researchers confirmed the theory from the movie My Boy with Hugh Grant.

Scientists from Leiden University in the Netherlands have found that women rate men as much more attractive when they see them with children. After all, a woman is subconsciously looking for a partner with whom she can procreate, the Daily Mail reports.

In the 2002 film "About a Boy," the protagonist Will (played by Grant) pretends to have a child to join single-parent meetings and meet single women. His strategy works. But does this method work in real life?

"From an evolutionary point of view, it makes sense. If you want to raise a child, you need a partner who can help you," said Professor Peter Bos, the lead author of the study.

To back up their claims and find out if childcare really does increase men's chances of getting a date, Professor Bos and his co-author, Hannah Spencer, PhD, tested 360 women's reactions to various experiments.

First, the women were shown photos of men, either alone or with a child, and then asked to rate their attractiveness on a scale of 1 to 100. Next, they were asked to read information about men who are involved in childcare and those who are not involved in parenting before rating them.

Women rated men with children significantly higher than hot men without kids. Prof. Bos explains that when a man is seen with children, and especially when he gets along well with them, it "signals an interest in caring and reliability."

Scientists cite an example from the wild, where birds choose males with traits that demonstrate the ability to defend themselves territorially and compete. And because females have a greater biological investment in their offspring through pregnancy, they tend to favor partners who offer resources and protection.

The study may also explain why women are more attracted to men who prove to be good fathers. Because raising a child is difficult, women seek out men who demonstrate traits that indicate suitability to be a good father. "People are designed to have two parents. If one adult is raising them, it's too stressful," says the author of the study.

Peter Bos says that men often use photos with children to appear more attractive and find a mate, even though they don't want children themselves. "I've heard from women that guys post photos with children on dating sites and Tinder, and I was surprised why they would do that if they weren't looking for a permanent relationship. So I advise you not to trust photos alone! Make sure your man is actually a caring person. And if you want children, make sure he is motivated to invest in being a great father to his children," the scientist advises.
