What you should never put in a tumble dryer to avoid damaging both the items and the appliance
A tumble dryer is a great solution for small apartments where there is no room to hang clothes. And in a large house, it greatly simplifies the task of caring for clothes after washing. However, experts warn that not everything can be put in it.
Due to the high temperature and dryness of the air in the dryer drum, some fabrics can damage. OBOZ.UA says what you should never dry in a tumble dryer.
Rubber
Everything that contains rubber elements should be dried in the air because such things melt and deform in the dryer. This includes shoes with rubber soles, bathroom mats, or carpets with rubber backing.
Spandex
This synthetic material makes sportswear, swimwear, and underwear durable. It helps them to keep their shape and not fail for a long time. However, it is completely unable to withstand the heat in the dryer drum. Therefore, it has no place there.
Delicate clothes
All items that need to be washed by hand, such as silk, wool, leather, are not suitable for machine drying. Similarly, you should not put clothes decorated with thin lace, sequins or rhinestones in the drum. Such decor can also be damaged beyond repair.
Items contaminated with sand
And this contaminant can already damage the machine itself. Grains of sand can get deep into the mechanism of the device and damage it until it breaks down completely. Therefore, it is better to rinse beach towels and T-shirts before the main wash and then air dry them.
Items covered with wool
Items with excessive pet hair, such as a dog's blanket or cat's bed, can also be dangerous for your appliance. What's more, in the dryer, hair can catch fire and cause a fire. That's why you should clean the lint trap after each use and vacuum the dryer several times a year.
Items with grease or gasoline stains
Any flammable substances on the fabric can easily catch fire during machine drying. This includes gasoline, which is sometimes used to remove stains, and fats that you use in your home.
Canvas sneakers
Usually, such shoes are fastened with glue. Under the influence of high temperature, the glue loses its properties and your favorite pair after machine drying can simply fall apart in your hands.
