Netflix rankings are not about critical acclaim or artistic value. It's about the pure interest and love of the audience. That's why it's where you can find a movie that will entertain you well on a weekend evening.
On August 16, the comedy spy action movie The Union was released exclusively on the platform. The movie stars Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg, public favorites and stars of the genre. OBOZ.UA tells why you should spend your weekend evening with this movie.
You can't expect any revelations or findings from the genre of the movie. The task of the spy action movie with elements of comedy is to give the viewer entertainment that will help him relax and unwind. This is all the movie can do.
In the story, Mike, a construction worker, lives an unremarkable life in New Jersey, until one night his former classmate Roxanne walks into his favorite bar. Mike had a crush on her and she seems to start flirting with him. But the woman has an ulterior motive. She needs her old friend for a secret mission.
Recently, attackers have stolen a list of all American spies and will sell it at a secret auction in a few days. This will put the country's security in grave danger. And the organization "Union", for which Roxanne works, needs someone unknown and inconspicuous to thwart the plans of the attackers. Mike is about to embark on a dizzying adventure. And even a little bit of romance.
The film's advantages include beautiful locations – the crew traveled to many picturesque places in Europe to shoot. And also spectacular stunts. Of course, both Berry and Wahlberg are well-known masters of action movies. The critics say that the film's disadvantages include a banal script and not very inventive humor.
The film was directed by Julian Farino, known for his work on the TV series Entourage, and written by Joe Barton and David Guggenheim. The cast also includes Marvel star J.K. Simmons, Mike Colter, and Alice Lee. The movie is 1:46 long.
