What to cook with potatoes if you're tired of dumplings: an interesting recipe

Of course, dumplings are a classic of Ukrainian cuisine, served for lunch or breakfast, depending on the filling used in them. This dish is definitely present on the tables of most people in our country and far beyond its borders. But if you're a little tired of dumplings, you can replace them with a rather interesting analog.

This is what food blogger Emilia Yevtushenko shared on Instagram. She showed how to make potato gnocchi served in a creamy sauce.

Ingredients

  • Boiled potatoes in their skins - 1 kg
  • Flour - 250-300 g
  • Egg - 1 piece or 2 yolks
  • Salt - a pinch

Ingredients for the sauce

  • Garlic - 3 cloves
  • Butter - 30 grams
  • Thyme - a sprig
  • Mushrooms - 200 g
  • Cream - 200 ml
  • Brie cheese - 1 triangle
  • Salt - a pinch

Method of preparation

1. Peel and grate the boiled potatoes in their skins.

2. Add the egg, salt and gradually add the flour, kneading a soft dough.

3. Divide the dough into several parts, form sausages and cut them into pieces of 2-3 cm each.

4. Optionally, use a fork to make "grooves" to make the product more beautiful.

5. Put the gnocchi in salted boiling water and boil until tender. Ready gnocchi are those that have just risen to the surface.

6. Fry garlic in butter for a few seconds, add thyme for flavor and chopped mushrooms. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, add cream, salt, and pepper.

7. Transfer the gnocchi to the prepared sauce and let it combine for 1 minute.

8. Sprinkle with herbs and put cheese on top.
