What to cook for lunch from potatoes to make it quick and satisfying: better than mashed potatoes
Potatoes can be used to make not only mashed potatoes for lunch, but also a full-fledged, hearty dish that won't require much of your attention. Namely, an exquisite gratin with chicken and cheese. It will not only be delicious, but also very quick, because while the dish is in the oven, you can go about your business.
The idea of cooking a hearty potato gratin for lunch was published on the page of food blogger Iryna Kozachuk (irina kozachuk) on Instagram. It will be enough for the whole family.
Ingredients:
- medium potatoes - 6 pcs.
- chicken fillet - 350 g
- onion - 1 pc.
- cream - 250 g
- butter - a piece
- hard cheese - 150 g
- garlic - 2 cloves
- salt
- ground black pepper
- nutmeg
Method of preparation:
1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin slices.
2. Put them in a bowl and cover with cold water to starch them.
3. Cut the chicken into small pieces, season with salt and pepper.
4. Cut the onion into half rings.
5. Melt the butter in a frying pan, add the squeezed garlic, nutmeg on the tip of a spoon and pour in the cream.
6. Then add 80 grams of grated cheese and heat until it dissolves. Add salt. Put the potatoes on a sieve.
7. Put half of the potatoes in a greased baking dish and pour over the sauce.
8. Next, put the fillet and onion, then arrange the potatoes on top. Pour over the sauce.
9. Cover the baking dish with foil and put it in an oven preheated to 180 degrees.
10. Bake for about an hour, then remove the foil and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
11. Bake for another 20-30 minutes. There are different varieties of potatoes, so the baking time may be different. It is better to check during the cooking process. If you want to reduce the baking time, you can pre-boil the chopped potatoes for 5 minutes.
