On January 29, Orthodox believers commemorate the transfer of the relics of the holy martyr Ignatius the God-bearer. Today is also the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of Kruty, young Ukrainian students and Sich Riflemen who heroically resisted Bolshevik troops advancing on Kyiv in January 1918 near the village of Kruty. Kruty Heroes Memorial Day is one of the most important dates in Ukrainian history, which is celebrated annually on January 29. In the early twentieth century, Ukraine went through a difficult period of struggle for independence. After the overthrow of the Russian Empire, the Ukrainian People's Republic was proclaimed. However, the young state faced aggression from Bolshevik Russia. It was in this context that the Battle of Kruty took place. Despite the enemy's numerical superiority, the young defenders of Ukraine showed an indomitable spirit and fought heroically for their land. The feat of the Kruty Heroes became a symbol of the desire for freedom.
On January 29, Orthodox believers honor St. Ignatius the Great, one of the most revered figures of the early Christian Church. After the martyrdom of Ignatius in Rome, his relics were first placed in this city. Later, in the fourth century, the saint's relics were transferred to Antioch, the city where he served as bishop. This was done in order to bring them closer to his flock. Later, the relics of the saint were placed in the Church of St. Clement.

The Day for the Mobilization of Efforts against the Threat of Nuclear War is an international day dedicated to the struggle for a peaceful future without nuclear weapons. It is celebrated annually on January 29 in honor of the adoption of the Delhi Declaration. This document was signed in New Delhi (India) on January 29, 1985. The Declaration calls for an end to the nuclear arms race, the reduction and eventual elimination of nuclear arsenals, and the elimination of the threat of nuclear war.
On January 29, 1886, German engineer Karl Benz received a patent for a three-wheeled car with a gasoline internal combustion engine. This day is often called the "birthday" of the modern car, as this patent is recognized as the first official document certifying the creation of a self-propelled vehicle with an internal combustion engine.
