March 2 - Syrupy Sunday, also known as Forgiveness Sunday. It is the last day of Butetr Week, preceding Lent in the church calendar. Orthodox believers honor the memory of the holy martyr Theodotus, Bishop of Cyrene, St. Job (Boretsky), Metropolitan of Kyiv. Today is the name day of Fedot, Yosyp, Mykola and Arseniy.

What holidays are celebrated on March 2
March 2 - Cheese Sunday or Forgiveness Sunday, the last day to eat dairy products, eggs and meat before the start of Lent. The main tradition of this day is to ask forgiveness from each other for all offenses and sins in order to enter Lent with a clean soul. On Cheese Sunday, believers attend church, where a special service with the rite of forgiveness is held.
Also on Forgiveness Sunday, the memory of the holy martyr Theodotus, Bishop of Cyrene, and St. Job (Boretsky), Metropolitan of Kyiv, is honored.
- St. Theodotus lived in the III-IV centuries. He was the bishop of the city of Kyrenia on the island of Cyprus. During the brutal persecution of Christians by Emperor Licinius, Theodotus openly preached the Christian faith, for which he was subjected to severe torture and eventually beheaded.
- St. Job (born Ivan Boretsky) lived in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. He was an outstanding church leader, polemic writer, and teacher. Job Boretsky was elected Metropolitan of Kyiv in 1620. He actively fought for the rights of Orthodox believers, strengthened the church organization and developed education.
International Cat Rescue Day, celebrated on March 2, aims to raise awareness of the problems of stray animals and encourage their rescue. This day is a call to action to help cats who find themselves on the streets and give them a chance for a happy life. Stray cats often live in dangerous conditions where they can become victims of road accidents, abuse or disease.
The International Children's Day ofBroadcasting is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of March. The UNICEF initiative aims to emphasize the importance of quality and safe content for children on television and radio, as well as to promote the development of children's media space.
