The coldest time of the year is about to come to an end. However, there is still time to go on a trip. After all, this period has minimal crowds, favorable weather without a hot climate, and lower prices. Aren't these ideal conditions for exploring cities and unique sights? So where to go on vacation - we tell you below.
Crete
Crete is located in the Mediterranean Sea. It is considered the largest island in the country. The coastline stretches for more than 1046 kilometers. The mild Mediterranean climate prevails. In winter, the average temperature ranges from +14°C to +16°C.
We recommend visiting Elafonissi Beach in the southwest of Crete. This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is famous for the pink hues emitted by tiny corals in the sand.
For hiking enthusiasts, we recommend going to the Samaria Gorge National Park. The hiking route lasts about 4.5 hours. Here you can see picturesque gorges, including the Samaria Gorge.
Also go to the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, dedicated to the art of the Minoan civilization. Tourists can see a collection of artifacts dating back to 1883. By the way, the exhibits are viewed in chronological order.
Rhodes
Rhodes is located in the eastern part of the Aegean Sea off the coast of the Asia Minor peninsula. The island is considered one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. The Mediterranean climate prevails. In winter, the average temperature ranges from +14°C to +15°C.
We recommend visiting Lindos first. The city is characterized by white buildings. At its top is the Ancient Acropolis. Here you can see the sanctuary of Athena and the medieval castle of the Knights Hospitaller. During the Trojan War, the fortress served as a defense structure.
Also take a walk along the romantic bay of St. Paul. It is shaped like a heart. The local chapel has been the site of many wedding ceremonies.
And, of course, go to Rhodes Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The building has various halls: Byzantine icons, receptions, expectations, music, etc.
Karpathos
It is located in the Carpathian Sea, 47 kilometers from Rhodes. The location is famous for its favorable surfing conditions. The Mediterranean climate prevails. In winter, the average temperature ranges from +14°C to +16°C.
There are several villages on the island, including: Aperi, Volada, Otos and Arkasa. The latter is often called an open-air museum. Here you can see the ruins of the acropolis and the remains of an ancient Christian church.
Also visit the village of Menites. The local buildings are built in the form of an amphitheater.
Idra
Located between the Saronic and Argolic Gulfs in the Aegean Sea. The mild Mediterranean climate prevails. In winter, the average air temperature ranges from +13°C to +14°C.
The location is characterized by the absence of car traffic. The main means of transportation are horses, donkeys, mules and bicycles.
Traditional taverns are the heart of Idra's gastronomic life. They are located almost everywhere. Here you can enjoy local cuisine and taste homemade wine.
We also recommend visiting the Historical and Archival Museum, which houses a variety of Greek costumes, paintings and sculptures.
Halki
It is part of the Dodecanese archipelago in the Aegean Sea. The island is characterized by rocky soil and sparse vegetation. The Mediterranean climate prevails. In winter, the average temperature ranges from +14°C to +15°C.
