Unique and little-known places of Ukraine you should definitely visit
You often want to break away and spontaneously go somewhere to relax your body and soul after a routine work week. Many people think of going to a place where there are no crowds and the spirit of history reigns in the air. Such places are not only impressive, but also become a place of peace and restoration. Today we are going to tell you where you can go for the next weekend and enjoy the trip without prying eyes.
Husyntsi
A former village in the Kyiv region. In 1917, it was under water after the Kaniv reservoir was filled. The place is located 77 kilometers from the capital.
As a result of the flooding, only the 1822 Church of Transfiguration remained on the territory. It stands on a small island and is a symbol of the disappeared settlement.
In 2008, work began on the preservation of the church and bell tower, which ended with a complete restoration and strengthening of the foundation in 2012.
We recommend a trip to the Magicians' Island (Ostriv Charivnyts) near Rzhyshchiv. It was used for pagan rituals. It is said that the hill has a unique energy. By the way, there are practically no plants here.
Chuchyn
It is located on the right bank of the Dnipro River in Kyiv region. It was first mentioned in the chronicle of 1110. The village served as a fortified settlement that protected the right bank from Polovtsian invasions.
From 1961 to 1962, excavations were carried out here under the direction of Professor Viacheslav Dovzhenko. The archaeologists found the remains of a land-based dwelling, craft tools, and weapons.
The site is located on the western outskirts of Balyko-Shchuchynka, so you can admire the endless expanse of the Kaniv Reservoir.
During the Second World War, bloody battles took place here. The Bukryn Bridgehead, from which the liberation of Kyiv was planned, became the place where about 250 thousand Soviet soldiers died.
A memorial complex was erected to commemorate these tragic events.
Kamianske
Kamianske is located on the banks of the Kamianske Reservoir in the Dnipro region.
There are several versions of the origin of the town's name. Cossack Mykyta Korzh emphasized that the settlement "bears" the nickname of the Zaporizhzhia Cossack Kamion. Historian Dmytro Yavornytskyi claimed that Kamianske is the rocky coast of the Dnipro River.
During the times of Kyivan Rus, important trade hubs passed through here - Salt, Iron, and Greek. Later, due to the Tatar-Mongol invasions, the land became part of the Wild Field.
We recommend visiting the Roman Catholic Church of St. Nicholas. The shrine was built in 1895-1897 for Polish workers of a local factory. In the Soviet period, the building housed a military enlistment office and a car wash.
Also, visit the local Museum of Local History, which houses more than 90 thousand exhibits. Tourists can see mining equipment of the XIX century, household items, a loom, etc.
Kaskady Tract
Located in Novoukrainskyi district of Kropyvnytskyi region in the valley of the Buky river.
Natural waterfalls are rare on the Dnieper Upland and in the plains of Ukraine, and Kaskady is one of them. The tract is a typical example of the Eastern European forest-steppe landscape of river valleys.
It is believed that the rocks were formed about 2 billion years ago.
Mysterious caves are hidden under the water column, the walls of which are covered with ancient symbols and inscriptions.
It is believed that a Scythian sanctuary was once located here. There is a well hollowed out under one of the waterfalls. Its depth reaches more than 20 meters.
Tokivske Granite Deposit
The canyon is located on the Kamianka River near the village of Tokivske in the Dnipro region.
The rocks of the canyon are the remnants of ancient mountains, consisting of granite and semi-precious stones. Among them, you can find garnets - red and black minerals worn by ladies as part of jewelry.
The natural wealth has led to the emergence of several quarries around the canyon.
There is a legend about the Cimmerian princess Tamyris. The woman was being pursued by the Scythians, and she decided to ask the stream for help.
The princess promised to give away her precious necklace in exchange for her salvation. The water body agreed and with amazing strength lifted huge boulders from the ground and covered her attackers.
Stilsko Hillfort
It is located along the outskirts of the villages of Stilsko and Dubrova in the Lviv region. The natural attraction was founded in the VII century.
There is speculation that until 933 the settlement could have been the capital of White Croatia, and then it was part of Kiyvan Rus.
During the excavations, caves, altars, and underground labyrinths were discovered.
In 2001, the location was included in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine.
