The Ukrainian flag has traveled into space for the fourth time. The commander and sponsor of the historic Polaris Dawn mission, billionaire Jared Isaacson, took a blue and yellow flag with the United24 logo on his space journey.

Jared has been financially supporting Ukraine since 2022 when he donated $100,000 for an ambulance. And now the billionaire entrepreneur has decided to take the symbol of our country into space to make a large-scale statement about the necessary support for Ukraine, Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov wrote on his Facebook page.

We would like to remind you that the SpaceX Polaris Dawn mission, which launched into space on September 10, was a record-breaking one. The crew of four amateur astronauts reached an unprecedented altitude for an orbit around the Earth - more than 1400 kilometers.

"This is the world's first tourist spacewalk, and with the Ukrainian flag at once!" said Minister of Digital Transformation Fedorov in a post.

Travel history of the Ukrainian flag

The flag of Ukraine was first deployed in space in 1997. The first astronaut of independent Ukraine, Leonid Kadenyuk, took it with him on a mission. At that time, the Ukrainian national anthem was performed in space for the first time, Suspilne reports.

For the second time, the Ukrainian flag was unfurled in Earth orbit by American astronaut Randolph Breznik, who once adopted a boy from Ukraine, Ukrainian media report.

Astronaut Heidemarie Stefanyshyn-Piper became the third Ukrainian woman in space to unfurl the blue and yellow flag in Earth orbit, OBOZ.UA wrote. Although she represented the United States, she also took Ukrainian songs on her space journey, as she is proud of her roots and has even visited her father's small homeland.

In addition to space, the Ukrainian flag has been repeatedly unfurled on the world's highest mountain, Everest. The first time it was done by a Ukrainian national expedition in 1999.

Over Antarctica, the blue and yellow symbol first flew in 1994 and has been hanging there since then over the Ukrainian polar station "Akademik Vernadsky."

Earlier, OBOZ.UA wrote that the Polaris Dawn crew broke more than one record in space.
