Ukraine recorded 8 times more marriages than divorces: which regions are leading the list

In the first six months of 2023, eight times more marriages than divorces were recorded in Ukraine. More than 86 thousand couples got married during this period, and 10 thousand divorced. In the first six months of 2022, the figures were even higher as more than 103 thousand couples got married.

Most marriages took place in Kyiv, Dnipro and Odesa regions. This was reported by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

According to the ministry, 9,292 marriages were performed in Kyiv. More than 8.6 thousand were in the Dnipro region, and more than 6.6 thousand in the Odesa region.

There were 1,678 divorces in the capital, the highest number among all regions. Dnipropetrovsk region is in second place with 1.2 thousand divorces.

In Kyiv region, there were also many couples who divorced, namely 718.

The Ministry of Justice also said that in the first six months of 2023, more than 93,000 births were registered in the government-controlled territories. Most babies were born in Kyiv (9,801).

The second place was taken by Lviv region, where more than 8,000 children were born, and the third place was taken by Dnipropetrovsk region (more than 7,000).

The statistics do not include data from the temporarily occupied territories.
