"This is a damn scoop that Ukrainians are fighting against." Marichka Padalko criticizes the updated "Defense of Ukraine" in 10-11 grades: online discussion
High school students in one of the capital's schools were taking the renewed "Defense of Ukraine" class and writing notes on an assault rifle for two consecutive lessons without even a picture of it and without understanding the names of half of the parts. After that, children were taught to march in the gym.
This was told by Ukrainian TV presenter Marichka Padalko, whose daughter visited the new school where the updated discipline is taught. In a post on Facebook, she shared that her husband, Yehor Soboliev, was furious when he learned about the training and said that it was "a damn scoop that Ukrainians are fighting against."
"For two lessons in a row, the children wrote down 'instructions' on how to disassemble a machine gun under the teacher's dictation, even without any pictures of the machine gun. I'm not even talking about a model. Of course, they did not even understand half of the names of the weapon parts. Then two classes marched in the gym. "Attention," "Stand at attention." This is what the "reformed" lesson "Defense of Ukraine" from which I had high expectations looks like – both as a mother and as a journalist," Padalko wrote.

"Yehor Soboliev, who learned from us about this teaching of 'Defense for Ukraine', was furious. He said that let the orcs teach their children this way. And this is the damn scoop that Ukrainians are fighting against," she added.
The TV presenter appealed to the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) to get information about who is responsible for this level of teaching and how it can be corrected. In addition, she mentioned the authors of the program and their idea to update the discipline.
"The idea was to fill this important subject with both new meaning and modern skills," Padalko writes.
Later, in comments, the Ministry of Education and Science explained that the Kyiv Department of Education and Science has not yet joined the pedagogical experiment and has no grounds to teach the new program.
