Residents of Ukraine could see a white "desert" Sun in the sky. The change in the color of our star is due to the perception of light by the human eye and the peculiarities of the atmosphere that the rays penetrate.

OBOZ.UA publishes photos of an unusual bright Sun that rose over Kyiv on the last day of September. This phenomenon could be seen not only by residents of the capital, but also of other settlements of the country.

By the way, scientists say that white is the true color of our "yellow dwarf" or "G2 V star". Astronauts, whose observations are not interfered with by our planet's atmosphere, see the Sun as white.

"Understanding the color of the Sun is tied to our understanding of the electromagnetic spectrum and different wavelengths," explains an article on Space.com.

The color of sunlight depends on the angle of refraction through the Earth's atmosphere. This factor varies depending on the time of day, which is why the Sun looks very bright, saturated, orange, or even red at sunrise and sunset.

In addition, light rays are scattered by dust particles or clouds. The haze in the sky changes the nature of the typical light scattering. Therefore, our star can be different: from milky white to yellow.

The Sun also gets its yellowish hue due to pollution in the atmosphere, which enhances the scattering effect, so in the desert, where the sky is clear and cloudless, the star appears white.

Dust particles and pollution in the air can also cause the Sun to appear dull shades of red and yellow to observers on Earth.
