The school year 2024/2025 will last from September 2 to June 30: the government has decided. Video

Ukrainian schools will start the school year on Monday, September 2, 2024, and end on June 30, 2025. This decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers during a meeting.

This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal. He noted that regional administrations should ensure the organization of the process, taking into account the security situation.

"Today, we are issuing a separate resolution to set the start of the new school year in general secondary schools on Monday, September 2, and its completion on June 30, 2025. Regional administrations have been instructed to ensure the organization of the process depending on the security situation in a particular territory," the official said.

Previously, the Ministry of Education and Science had given recommendations to colleges and universities to start classes in the first half of August. Also, classes should be held on Saturdays in the warmer months if possible.

As a reminder, Novodnistrovsk, Chernivtsi region, was the first city to decide to start school on August 19. Children will not have autumn and spring vacations but will have long winter vacations.

The decision to start classes earlier was also made in Lviv. Schoolchildren will also start classes on August 19. Instead, the year in the region will begin according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science.
