Two-time Olympic champion Dmitry Vasiliev became a laughingstock online after he expressed confidence that Russian athletes would be allowed back into international tournaments following Donald Trump's order. The former biathlete reacted in this way to a new statement by the International Biathlon Union (IBU) regarding the impossibility of allowing athletes from the Russian Federation to participate in international competitions until the war in Ukraine ends.

"This whole suspension will end after the end of the war (as Russia shamefully calls its aggression against our country - Ed.) As soon as this happens, Trump will tell them what to do from above. It will be in the form of an order, and they will quickly go to the IBU and other federations to follow the instructions. I am sure that this will happen," Vasiliev said.

They suspected the ex-biathlete of derogatory remarks about the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin and pointed out the discrepancy between Vasiliev's statements and propaganda clichés about the greatness of the Russian Federation.
