In the coming days, chicken eggs will become cheaper in Ukraine. The reason for this is warming. Under favorable conditions, a significant amount of products is supplied to the market from households, which affects its price.

This is what Denys Marchuk, deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Agri Council (UAC), told OBOZ.UA. He explained that when it gets colder, households sell less of their products, and "in fact, we buy what comes from producers directly."

"The situation with eggs will stabilize after the Christmas and New Year holidays. On warm days, we will see a decrease in prices again," said Marchuk.

In general, he noted, there are prerequisites for a rise in the egg prices in Ukraine. According to him, this is influenced by a number of factors:

  • increase in electricity and gas tariffs
  • inflation
  • rise in the cost of logistics
  • higher feed prices due to drought and crop failure

In addition, he noted, eggs are an export-oriented crop. Therefore, when products produced in Ukraine enter export markets, "the prices do not differ - the price on the foreign market is the same as the price sold in Ukraine."

How much do eggs cost in Ukraine?

At the same time, on December 17, according to the Ministry of Finance, large supermarket chains sold packaged eggs of the Kvochka brand at an average of 78.4 UAH per dozen. This is 5.46 UAH higher than the average price in November.

Yasensvit eggs cost an average of 77.9 UAH per dozen. This is UAH 7.64 higher than the previous month.

At the same time, supermarkets also sell unbranded, unpackaged eggs. According to OBOZ.UA monitoring, they cost an average of UAH 6.29. In particular, in some chains such eggs can be bought at:

  • Novus - 5.89 UAH per egg;
  • MegaMarket is 7 UAH per egg;
  • EcoMarket - 5.99 UAH/each.

As previously reported, the situation with the Ukrainian cheese on the market is not favorable for domestic producers. If nothing prevents the rise in prices for their products, in 2025 they will have to reduce production, and there will be even more imported cheese in Ukraine.
