What the movie is about
The film Slovo House tells the story of one of the greatest crimes of the Soviet regime - the destruction of a powerful artistic movement that emerged in the 20s and 30s in Kharkiv. The most famous artists of Ukrainian culture - writers, poets, painters, and directors - lived in 66 apartments of the house called Slovo. For several years, the intelligentsia, specially gathered in one place, was repressed, shot, or turned into party singers.
"Ukrainian culture has been facing the threat of destruction by Russia for more than a century - it is a systemic, continuous process that continues today. That is why our voice should be heard not only in Kyiv. We are launching a series of international meetings to talk, show, and act - to find common solutions and create new initiatives to preserve and develop Ukrainian culture together," said Yulia Cherniavska, the film's co-producer.
A partner in organizing the screenings of the film "Slovo" House" around the world will be the Berehynia Charitable Foundation, headed by its founder Nadiya Vovk, who actively supports the film's team in all cultural initiatives.
