The legendary German national team footballer who scored the winning goal in the World Cup final has died
Andreas Brehme, the legendary defender of Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and the German national team, died on the night of February 20 in Munich. The famous footballer, who scored the winning goal in the final of the 1990 World Cup, was 63 years old. His unexpected death came as a shock to the entire country.
This is reported by Kicker, citing a statement by the wife of the football legend, Susanne Schaefer. "It is with deep sadness that I report on behalf of the family that my partner Andreas Brehme died suddenly and unexpectedly as a result of cardiac arrest," she said.

Brehme was considered one of the best defenders of the 80s and 90s. He started his career at Saarbrücken, after which he ended up at Kaiserslautern. He played here for a total of 10 years, playing 274 matches in the Bundesliga alone, and in 1997 he sensationally became the German champion with the team.

After the first stage of his career in Kaiserslautern, he played for Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Spanish side Zaragoza. Brehme won the UEFA Cup and was a finalist in the European Champions Cup.

He played 86 matches for the German national team. At the 1990 World Cup in Italy, in the final match against Argentina, he scored the only goal, converting a penalty in the 84th minute. He also won bronze medals at the 1986 World Cup, Euro 88, and became the 1992 continental vice-champion.
