"The Kremlin is afraid": Feigin names the most "explosive" region of Russia
The Siberian Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the Kremlin is concerned about a possible uprising in the regions of Siberia, particularly in Buryatia, where they have even organized a headquarters to counter the threats of separatism and nationalism. Others, however, are convinced that the North Caucasus region is the most "explosive" at present.
In particular, this is the opinion of Russian human rights activist Mark Feigin. In an interview with OBOZ.UA, he expressed the opinion that riots could break out there against the backdrop of the next presidential election.
"I believe that the danger of Siberian separatism is not too great now. We do not see such manifestations. If there were any rallies, speeches, large-scale underground activities of any groups, we could talk about it. But I have no such information," said the Russian, who was recognized as a "foreign agent" in Russia.
According to him, for example, arsons are mostly observed in the central part of Russia and in the south, but "the Siberian region is sleeping."
"The Kremlin is afraid of everything. It is trying to create a kind of barrier against everything. And the fantasy is not too far-fetched - it's about strengthening the power vertical. From this point of view, I can well assume that they consider this threat along with all the others," Feigin explained.
He says that separatist tendencies in the national outskirts, in the autonomous regions of the Russian Federation, are traditionally considered dangerous. First of all, in the North Caucasus. And Siberian separatism is considered among other less dangerous threats.
"But, apparently, it also takes place. I've heard about this Siberian battalion, although I don't know its size. I think it is still small. It's hard to say whether Russian citizens, for example, from Siberia and its national autonomies, will join it or come there. Because all the Russian units of the Armed Forces are small. Each of them counts for several hundred people," the Russian human rights activist is convinced.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Kremlin has recently been trying to suppress protests by the wives of the occupiers, demanding the return of their husbands from the war in Ukraine. Russian women are being forced to keep silent by promising larger payments, and a discrediting campaign has been launched against these rallies on social media.
