It's a well-known fact that bathrooms are often one of the least hygienic rooms in the entire house, and for this reason, they require more thorough cleaning.

Bathrooms are teeming with germs, the most common types of which are E. coli, salmonella, streptococcus and, of course, bacteroidetes, also known as fecal bacteria. As turned out, faucet handles are one of the dirtiest places in the bathroom, so they need to be washed more often, OBOZ.UA writes.

People regularly touch bathroom faucet handles with unwashed hands, so they pick up germs and bacteria. One of the fastest ways to spread the norovirus is through contaminated surfaces, so it is extremely important to keep it clean.

Gram-positive bacilli, which are associated with a number of infections, represent almost 95% of the germs found on faucet handles. Faucets are touched before and after washing hands, so germs are often transferred.

It turned out that they contain a whopping 6,267 bacterial units per square inch, which is even more than in most places.

To safely clean your bathroom faucets, mix a few drops of liquid soap with warm water in a jug and gently pour half of it onto them.

Take a soft microfiber cloth, dip it in the rest of the soap mixture, and wring it out before rubbing the faucet in a gentle circular motion, cleaning from top to bottom.

Then rinse the faucet with clean, warm water to get rid of any soap residue.

Use another microfiber cloth to gently dry the faucet to make sure there are no water streaks left on it.
