The bathroom will shine: 8 vinegar life hacks that will come in handy
Bathrooms often give us a lot of trouble when cleaning because of hard water stains and marks on the mirrors. Usually, we clean all of this with a whole host of chemicals, but in fact, one simple product can do the trick.
According to cleaning experts, it's plain white vinegar. Thanks to its acidity, it dissolves even stubborn dirt and kills bacteria. What should not be cleaned with it is natural stone, such as marble or granite. But vinegar is perfect for most other hard surfaces. OBOZ.UA tells you what and how to clean with it.
Remove mineral deposits from faucets and drains
Even if you have a fancy-shaped faucet in your bathroom, you can easily clean it with vinegar. Simply soak a paper or cloth towel with the product and wrap it around the part you want to clean. Leave the vinegar on for an hour or two, remove the towel and wipe off the residue. Drains are even easier to clean. Just close the pipe with a stopper and pour 1/2 cup of vinegar into the sink or bathtub. The liquid should cover the metal part of the drain. After an hour or two, the vinegar can be poured off and the part wiped clean and wiped dry.
Clean the shower head
To thoroughly clean the shower head, both inside and out, unscrew it and place it in a container with enough vinegar to submerge it completely. If you don't want to remove the part, put a vinegar bag over it overnight and secure it with a rubber band. In the morning, wipe the nozzle with a sponge, rinse it, and replace it if necessary. It's also a good idea to turn on the water and rinse the nozzles for a few minutes to remove the vinegar smell.
Restore shine to mirrors
To get rid of stains on your mirror, mix vinegar and water in equal parts. Pour both liquids into a spray bottle and shake well. Spray the mirror with the mixture and wipe it with a dry microfiber cloth.
Remove stains in the toilet bowl
Vinegar also works well with stains in the toilet bowl. For mild stains, you can add a glass of the cleaner to water and leave it on overnight. Rinse the next day and that may be enough. However, if the stains are already stubborn, you'll need to put in a little more effort. Push the water from the toilet into the pipe and fill it with vinegar. Leave it on overnight, and in the morning sprinkle baking soda on the walls and scrub the toilet with a brush. Rinse as usual and enjoy the cleanliness.
Disinfect the floor
If you have ceramic tile or linoleum on your floor, you can clean it with vinegar. Dilute a glass of the substance in a bucket of water and use this solution to clean. The same mixture can also be used for wooden floors, but make sure you wring the mop well, as wood does not tolerate excessive moisture.
Clean tiles and grout
Vinegar is safe and effective for both porcelain and ceramic tiles, as well as for grout fugue. Simply mix one part vinegar to one part water, spray the mixture onto the tiles, and wipe them with a cloth. To remove limescale in wet areas, try turning on hot water for a few minutes to let the steam soften the deposits, then spray undiluted vinegar to make sure it penetrates the dirt well. Then go over the tiles with a brush and rinse everything off with a damp cloth.
Remove blockages in the pipes
Soap and dirt can build up in the drain pipes and cause blockages. Try using vinegar and baking soda to remove them. First, pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain, and then pour the same amount of vinegar down the drain. Close the hole and let it run for a few minutes. After that, pour a pot of very hot water down the pipe. This should wash away the blockage loosened by the baking soda and vinegar.
Make a multi-purpose cleaner
To clean many places in the bathroom, you can make a multi-purpose cleaning solution. Take 1/4 cup of vinegar, 12-20 drops of your favorite essential oil, 1 teaspoon of castile soap, and 2 cups of distilled water. Mix all these ingredients in a spray bottle and the product is ready. Spray it on the surface to be cleaned. But make sure that the surface can not be used with acidic products.
