"Statements of crazy Ukrainians": Russian Olympic champion attacks figure skater from Kharkiv
Two-time Olympic champion Dmitry Vasilyev was outraged by the words of Ukrainian-American figure skater Vadim Kolesnik, who called for the Russians to be prevented from returning to international tournaments. An accomplice of Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime cynically called our compatriot from Kharkiv a madman.
Vasilyev said this in an interview with the VseProSport portal. The former biathlete, who fiercely supports his country's aggression against Ukraine, spoke on behalf of the International Skating Union (ISU), noting that it would not reverse its decision to allow Russians to compete.
"This Kolesnik either read the Olympic charter or can't read at all. There is no contradiction in the return of Russian athletes to the Olympic Games. Kolesnik needs to read the IOC charter carefully, then he will correctly interpret the principles of the Olympic movement. The words of this athlete and other similar statements by Ukrainians do not cancel the ISU's decision to allow Russian figure skaters to compete. They will not succeed. The ISU will not respond to the statements of crazy people," Vasilyev said.
Earlier, a well-known figure skating coach Tatyana Tarasova hysterically called the admission of athletes from Russia in the truncated quota "an injustice to Russians."
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the ISU has granted Russia one quota in neutral status for each type of figure skating at the 2026 Olympics. Tatiana Tarasova said that Russians "are used to being punished for nothing."
